Community Input Brings Samford Parklands Village Green to Life
On a Saturday morning in Samford Valley, the smell of coffee drifts from local cafés while families wander through stalls of handmade goods and fresh produce. Soon, this familiar rhythm of community life will have a new home: the Samford Parklands Village Green.
Backed by $2.2 million in funding, the project will create a central hub with rolling lawns, shaded picnic shelters, children’s play areas, and gardens designed to celebrate the area’s rural character.
Shaped by the Community
The vision for the Samford Parklands Village Green began with conversations among residents. Between December 2020 and February 2021, the community shared their hopes for a space that preserved Samford’s relaxed country feel while opening new opportunities for gatherings and recreation.
Their input is clear in the design: a multi-purpose lawn large enough for markets and music. These orchard gardens highlight sustainability, and pathways are positioned to capture sweeping views of the valley.
Families asked for safe play areas, and those requests will be met with equipment inspired by Samford’s natural surroundings. The strong theme of rural identity runs through the plans, ensuring the new space feels connected to its setting rather than separate from it.

Investment with Lasting Value
The project is being delivered through the Thriving Suburbs Program, which supports community infrastructure in growing regions. The City of Moreton Bay matched the funding, bringing the total to $2.2 million. Officials note that construction will generate local jobs while providing a lasting focal point for Samford’s cultural and social life.
The aim is not only to add amenities but to strengthen connections. By creating a setting for markets, music, family outings, and casual gatherings, the Village Green is positioned as a place where locals and visitors alike can share in the region’s outdoor lifestyle.
Timeline
According to the council’s project timeline, work on the Village Green will begin in mid-2025 and is expected to finish by late 2026. Once complete, the space will add to Samford’s existing attractions, offering a fresh venue for events and a welcoming backdrop for everyday life.
For now, the community continues to imagine how the new lawns, shaded seating, and orchard gardens will shape future weekends. The Samford Parklands Village Green represents more than an upgrade — it is a shared project shaped by the voices of residents and built to reflect the valley’s enduring sense of place.
